PLEASANT VIEW, Utah — A married couple and their 10-year-old child suffered serious injury Saturday night after their vehicle was struck broadside by a Jeep that went through a red light.

Chief Ryon Hadley of the Pleasant View Police Department said the crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. at 2700 North and Highway 89.

Hadley said witnesses reported a northbound Jeep Liberty went through a red light while traveling 50 to 55 mph. The Jeep struck an eastbound Cadillac Escalade broad side.

A 10-year-old child riding in the Escalade was ejected from the vehicle. The child suffered serious injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The boy’s mother is believed to have been driving. Tanya Cole, 46 of Farr West, and her husband, 48-year-old Roy Cole, both suffered serious injuries but were not ejected. Hadley said they suffered head, neck and internal injuries, but none are believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Jeep, a woman from Pleasant View in her 40s, suffered lesser injuries. Hadley was uncertain if the woman was taken to a hospital or treated at the scene and released.

Hadley said they are still investigating the cause of the crash, and he said at this point there are no obvious indications of impairment or distraction. He said the speed limit on the road in that area is 50 mph, which is about how fast the Jeep was traveling when it entered the intersection against the red light.
