SALT LAKE CITY – One man is dead after a pickup truck and a semi truck collided in Salt Lake City Thursday morning.

Authorities said the wreck happened near 1820 S. Redwood Rd. at about 7 a.m.

Salt Lake City Police Det. Rob Ungricht said the semi was going north on Redwood Rd. making a left turn while the pickup truck was driving south on Redwood Rd. in the far right lane when the vehicles collided.

Victor Manuel Arellano-Solis, 43, was killed in the wreck.

The semi truck driver went to the hospital with neck and back pain.

“What I would just say is be really careful of your surroundings when you’re driving, especially when you’re making a left turn,” Ungricht said. “I would caution people to make sure it’s safe to make that left-hand turn. It’s a sad day when we have to report these kinds of stories.”

Officials have not confirmed what led to the crash.
