SALT LAKE CITY — LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson made an appearance at the dedication of a historic building being named after him.

The newly renovated Enos Wall Mansion at 400 East and South Temple was renamed the “Thomas S. Monson Center,” after the 89-year-old leader of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Previously, the historic mansion housed the LDS Business College. It will house the University of Utah’s Kem Gardner Policy Institute, which will focus on economic and public policy.

President Monson appeared frail, but smiled and shook hands as he attended Wednesday’s dedication ceremony. As he left, accompanied by his daughter, Ann Dibb, and Counselors Dieter Uchtdorf and Henry B. Eyring of the LDS Church’s First Presidency, he turned to the crowd and proclaimed to cheers: “A Utah man am I!”
