Health officials confirm first case of Zika virus in Weber County

WEBER COUNTY, Utah — A report of its first case of Zika virus in Weber County was confirmed by the Weber-Morgan Health Department, Monday afternoon.

According to health officials a young woman in her early pregnancy contracted the infection after a trip to Mexico.

Currently, Utah has nine positive Zika cases that are all related to travel, according to the Utah Department of Health. Five of those cases affected pregnant women.

Three of the five women have since delivered.

The health department is following up with the infants and continues to monitor the two pregnancies.
