LOGAN, Utah – Utah State University officials said about 60 people who were evacuated have been allowed back into a campus building Tuesday afternoon.
Officials said the USU Campus Center for Persons with Disabilities building was evacuated for a “suspicious odor” that was irritating people’s eyes.
USU Emergency Manager Judy Crocket said workers in the basement were using chemicals to help loosen rusty pipes.
That chemical somehow got into the HVAC system and spread through the building.
People with irritated eyes were treated at the scene and released.
