SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Fire Department is honoring man who helped rescue three teens trapped a crashed SUV that landed upside down in the Jordan River back in September 2014.
Leo Montoya Jr. watched as three teens lost control of the speeding SUV and smashed through a fence, landing them upside-down in the Jordan River.
Montoya helped rescue two of the trapped teens; rescue crews helped the third pinned inside the vehicle.
The Salt Lake City Fire Department honored Montoya with the department’s Citizen Heroism Medal Tuesday morning.
