SALT LAKE CITY - A couple dozen people gathered outside Salt Lake City Hall on Tuesday to hold a Black Lives Matter rally.
The rally is in response to the decision by District Attorney Sim Gill to find the Abdi Mohamed police shooting justified.
The rally was filled with anger, anger towards the district attorney, anger toward the Salt Lake City mayor and anger towards the local police.
"Black lives matter, Abdi's life matters, and justice matters, and so we are here tonight to demand that Salt Lake County DA Sim Gill step down immediately," said protester Haven Jackson.
"A person of color gets shot by police and automatically justified, no matter what jurisdiction it is," said protester Brother Al.
According to Gill, in this particular case Mohamad and another man were attacking an individual with metal objects outside the Road Home homeless shelter in February. Officers ordered the men to stop, one did, the other, Muhammad did not, and he was shot four times.
However, these protesters said they don't know what to believe, since body cam video from the shooting has yet to be released.
Gill said it won't be released until the investigation is complete.
"We demand that they release the footage of these officers shooting down an innocent 17-year-old child," said Jackson.
"I'm just really tired of hearing the same news over and over people of color are tired of being afraid of coming out of their houses," said protester Matthew Romwell.
The anger for DA Gill, also turned toward Mayor Jackie Biskupski.
"Who is a coward, Jackie Biskupski, who's the coward, Jacki Biskupski," shouted the protesters.
Mohamad continues to recover from the gunshots he sustained during the shooting. He has been charged with aggravated robbery and possession of a controlled substance.
