SALT LAKE CITY — One person is dead after a collision involving a TRAX train and a pedestrian in Salt Lake City Wednesday, and TRAX service was disrupted for several hours.

Salt Lake City Fire Department stated the fatal crash occurred in the area of 400 South and State Street and involved the train and a pedestrian.

Fire officials asked the public to avoid  400 South between State Street and 200 East, but just after 7 p.m. UTA stated the incident scene had been cleared and regular TRAX service would resume.

A bus bridge was in place earlier in the day.

A UTA spokesman said the incident is under investigation.
