Power restored in South Salt Lake after truck’s crane hits power lines

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah — A crane truck with its crane extended hit a power line Monday, causing hundreds of Rocky Mountain Power customers in South Salt Lake to lose electricity.

The incident occurred around 2:30 near 300 W 3300 S, and forced police to close nearby streets. About 949 customers, including South Salt Lake City Hall, in the 84115 ZIP code lost electricity. The city hall was forced to use its generator power as a backup.

Power was restored for the affected customers by 3:25 p.m.
