SALT LAKE CITY — A day after he filed to dismiss criminal charges against former Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, the Davis County Attorney issued a statement criticizing the U.S. Justice Department for not cooperating with his corruption probe.
Troy Rawlings was responding to a statement released by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Colorado, which took over federal aspects of the investigations into Shurtleff and his successor, John Swallow. In that statement to FOX 13 on Monday night, the federal government insisted it had been cooperative.

That statement prompted Rawlings to issue his own statement Tuesday morning, going into detail about accusations of bribery that extended to Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV. (His office has long denied any involvement.)

Rawlings filed Monday to drop the criminal prosecution of Shurtleff, revealing there was a cooperative agreement with the former Utah Attorney General and laying blame on the feds for not handing over enough evidence. Shurtleff has declined to comment until the judge signs the order, which she has yet to do.
