CACHE COUNTY, Utah — The Cache County Sheriff’s Office signed a contract with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office of Idaho to house inmates for their county.

According to a Facebook post from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County has been a partner in using Spillman Technologies for law enforcement and jail data management.  With Spillman being available in both facilities, it has made for a smooth transition from fresh arrests to sentenced inmates coming from Idaho courts.

With this agreement, Cache County will benefit financially and Franklin County will benefit from the reduction in safety issues during transports. Cache County hopes more revenue will be generated by housing the Idaho inmates, while Franklin County believes they’ll save money as the distance is shorter and transport costs will be reduced.

Cache County said the new agreement will benefit the inmates and their families as it reduces travel distance. Inmates may also have the opportunity to participate in work release, ankle monitoring and classes that will help with a more successful future.
