PINE VALLEY, Utah – The Saddle fire near Pine Valley is 42% contained and is holding at 1,640 acres, and firefighters have partially lifted the voluntary evacuation order.

According to a press release sent on Friday, the voluntary evacuation has been lifted for most Pine Valley residents apart from a portion of Lloyd Canyon Drive.

A community meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 5th July 2016 at the Pine Valley Fire Station at 7 p.m.

Firefighters are continuing to battle the flames but crews say that they have been assisted by some rain that passed by the Pine Valley region.

Although the moisture helped reduced the fire danger, Fire Authorities say it also delays the burning operations needed to secure the uncontained portions of the fire.

Fire personnel continue to be on high alert for drones flying in the area and they want to remind people it’s a federal offense to fly them in the area under a temporary flight restriction.

The Pine Valley Recreation Area in the Dixie National Forest remains closed until the order is reversed.

There are now 207 personnel involved in the attack, along with engines, heavy equipment and aircraft helping to suppress the fire.

The fire remains most active in the Lloyd and Forsyth canyons.

The Saddle fire began on June 13th 2016 with a lightning strike on Saddle Mountain.
