Police identify man who drowned at Blackridge Reservoir

HERRIMAN, Utah -- Search and rescue crews have recovered the body of a 31-year-old man who went under the water and didn't resurface Saturday at Blackridge Reservoir.

The victim has been identified as Penoni Mounga of Kearns.

Lt. Lex Bell, Unified Police Department, said dive teams were dispatched after they received report a man swimming in the reservoir with family members went under and did not resurface.

Bell confirmed the man's body was recovered around 5:15 p.m. The first 911 call was made around 3:40 p.m., police said.

The park remains closed.

The reservoir located at 15000 South Ashland Ridge Drive in Herriman is a popular recreation destination.
