Blogger Terri Allred shows us a fun and delicious way to make dad feel special this Father's Day.

Father`s Day Greeting Card Cookie Puzzle

Start with your favorite rolled out sugar cookie dough OR purchase a tube of refrigerated sugar cookie dough.
Directions for using purchased cookie dough - After letting cookie dough soften for about 10 minutes, mix in ½ cup all-purpose flour until well blended.
Directions for Father`s Day Cookie Puzzle
1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Roll dough (your own recipe or dough prepared from purchased sugar cookie dough) between two pieces of parchment paper into desired size rectangle. If you need a good recipe - we`ll post a great one on EatCraveCreate.com this week.
3. Use cookie cutters to cut out greeting, etc. Make sure to leave a border around the edge of the 'card' for stability.
4. Use colored milk to paint 'puzzle pieces' with clean paint brushes. (This step could also be done AFTER baking by using thin icing. If you choose to decorate AFTER baking you could also use colored sugars for extra fun and mess! You can also combine the colored milk painting and icing. Be Creative!)
5. Slide a baking sheet under completed project and chill for 10-15 minutes before baking. This is easiest if you keep the cookie card on a piece of parchment.
6. Watch carefully. Baking time will be determined by the size of your cookie. After removing from oven, cool for a couple minutes, then carefully recut the cookie shapes from the puzzle to create clean lines.
7. Package in a fun see-through box for Dad and let him know you 'LOVE HIM TO PIECES!'

Tips and Tricks specific to this project
 Have each child work on a piece of parchment paper.
 If you have enough small baking sheets that would be ideal but not necessary.
 Mini muffin tins are great for mixing milk with color for painting.
 Icing colors provide more intense colors than regular food colors but BEWARE - they stain more easily!
 (Pictures #4 versus 5, 6, 11 or 12 when we used regular food coloring because several of the kids were in Sunday clothes and I was worried about staining.)
 Use blanched almonds or broken pretzels to make 'handles' on the puzzle pieces than can be lifted out more easily.
