SANDY, Utah – The DEA is investigating a serious situation after a man was arrested while in possession of a potentially dangerous drug.

Adult Probation and Parole agents were responding to a tip about someone who violated probation.

Agents arrived at the Majestic Rockies Motel in Sandy on Wednesday afternoon to find Nathan Jetter and took him into custody.

When searching the motel room authorities found a “powdered substance” they thought was Fentanyl which can be absorbed through the skin.

“We’re concerned for law enforcement and for first responders. You can absorb Fentanyl through the powder and you can inhale it. You can also absorb it through your skin which is incredibly dangerous for us as first responders and for the public”, said Layton Police Department Sergeant Clint Bobrowsky.Hazmat suits

The motel had to be evacuated while hazmat crews decontaminated the property.

5 law enforcement agents also had to be decontaminated after coming into contact with the suspected Fentanyl.

Nathan Jetter is now in Salt Lake County Jail and the DEA is handling the charges.
