Loveland Living Planet Aquarium Expedition: Asia now open in Draper

DRAPER, Utah — Starting today, guests can explore the new Expedition: Asia display at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium.

According to a press release sent to FOX 13 from the aquarium, the exhibit features Clouded leopards, Asian small-clawed otters, giant Asian fish, colorful birds, tortoises and more.

“We hope guests will enjoy learning about the Asian ecosystem and the actions they can take to protect these species in their native habitat,” said Aquarium CEO Brent Andersen in the press release. “We are grateful for the opportunity to teach guests about our Living Planet every day.”

The press release also stated that the Aquarium is excited to be part of the Species Survival Plan administered by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums for the the Clouded leopards. There are currently 87 Clouded leopards in captivity in the United States and less than 10,000 breeding Clouded leopards worldwide.

The exhibit highlights the Asian small-clawed otter that is the smallest of 13 otter species and giant Asian fish, including the Arowana, Pangasius catfish and Giant gourami.
