SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A young child who was breathing but unconscious after going under in a swimming pool was flown to a hospital in stable condition Saturday.

Capt. Ben Kluger with the South Jordan Fire Department said they responded to a pool at a home where a child, age 3 or 4, had gone underwater in a swimming pool before being pulled out.

The incident was in the vicinity of 1600 West and Palmer Park Lane, and FOX 13 News first heard report of the response just before 7 p.m.

The child was breathing but was not conscious when crews arrived. A medical helicopter was dispatched, and the child was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

Kluger said at this point it appears the incident is an accident.
