WEBER COUNTY, Utah — Two teenagers have been rescued after they were stranded overnight in the Cutler Flats area of northern Weber County.

The pair set out for a hike on the Ben Lomond Trail, near the North Fork Campground, around 3 p.m. Monday. By 9 p.m., they realize they couldn’t find their way back and called for help. Search and rescue crews had a difficult time finding a good way to reach the lost hikers.

“The other team that went up the trail, because they were so far off the trail, they really had to bush whack down into some steep terrain to try and locate them,” said Lt. Brandon Toll, Weber County Sheriff`s Office.

Crews eventually called for a Life Flight helicopter to aid in the search.

Weber County Sheriff’s Office officials said the teens did have some food and a blanket with them, but were otherwise unprepared for their hike. Hikers are urged to stay on the trails, and bring a fully-charged cellphone, extra layers of clothing, food and water.
