CACHE COUNTY, Utah — The Cache County Fire District stated Saturday they are mourning the loss of one of their own after former Assistant Chief Travis Peterson died.
The Fire District took to Facebook to express their condolences to Peterson’s wife, daughter, father and other family members.
“Travis loved the fire service and he loved working with the firefighters in Cache County,” the post stated. “He has touched all of our lives through his dedication, passion, and commitment to everything good in the fire service. He was a leader, an example, and a friend. We will miss him greatly.”
The Orem Fire Department also expressed their condolences on Facebook:
“On behalf of the men and women of the Department, we extend our sincere condolences to the family of Asst. Chief Travis Peterson, who lost his courageous battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and peers.
May his family find comfort in knowing that the positive impact Travis has had on the Utah fire service will live on for generations.”
Peterson retired in February of this year, according to the Cache County Fire District, and the Cache Valley Daily reports he died Saturday after battling lung cancer.
