TROUT CREEK, Utah — Devin Timm, Samantha Dexter, and John Reil all graduated Thursday afternoon from West Desert High School in Trout Creek. Reil was the Valedictorian, Dexter the Salutorian, and Timm delivered the ceremony’s opening speech.

West Desert is Utah’s smallest high school. Located in the Snake Valley of Juab County near the Nevada border, the public school serves rural ranching families offering classes for grades 7 through 12. The entire student body typically numbers around a dozen.

In spite of its isolation and small size, West Desert forms a basketball team each year, mustering up some surprisingly good competition in the 1A division. Devin Timm and John Reil were both on last year’s team.
