UTAH COUNTY — Authorities have determined a missing Millard County woman found dead, Friday, succumbed to hypothermia, officials reported Monday.

On May 15, Stacy Jo Morrill, 52, went missing in a remote southwest area of Utah County, about four miles east of Eureka. The Utah County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to her disappearance after motorists reported an SUV abandoned near the Dividend Road with its doors open.

During the course of their investigation, deputies learned the SUV belonged to Morrill.

Search and rescue, K-9, helicopters and an airplane were dispatched to find Morrill, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office. She was eventually found by family members on May 20.

“As reported previously, Morrill had removed her clothing and there was evidence in the area that showed she would have walked aimlessly over a broad area before she died,” the release states.

The medical examiner reports Morrill would have become disoriented and confused, according to the release.
