The man behind the hit show “Family Guy” is expanding his small screen presence with a new show on FOX, and Seth MacFarlane’s newest project centers around a ship in Earth’s Interstellar Fleet.

According to a press release, FOX has ordered 13 episodes of the so-far untitled project from Seth MacFarlane, who is the creator, executive producer and a voice actor for “Family Guy.”

“I’ve wanted to do something like this show ever since I was a kid, and the timing finally feels right,” MacFarlane stated. “20th and FOX have been good to me for many years, and of course, Dana and Gary have been fantastic bosses and true pals, so it was a no-brainer to come to them with the project. I think this is gonna be something special.”

The new hour-long show will be a comedic drama set 300 years in the future. The story follows the adventures of Orville, “a not-so-top-of-the-line exploratory ship in Earth’s Interstellar Fleet. Facing cosmic challenges from without and within, this motley crew of space explorers will boldly go where no comedic drama has gone before.”

The show is being targeted for the 2017-2018 television season.

MacFarlane has won Emmy awards for his work on Family Guy, and he is also a co-creator, executive producer and voice actor on “American Dad!” He is also an EP on “Bordertown” and “Blunt Talk.”

The untitled project will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television. MacFarlane wrote the pilot episode and serves as executive producer and creator of the series.
