WEST JORDAN, Utah — Two people have been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on I-15 in Salt Lake County Saturday, and police said they do not believe the incident was a random attack.

Police began searching for the individuals and a green SUV after a shot was fired at a semi-trailer hauling cars on I-15 near 3300 South Saturday.

Lt. Jared Garcia, State Bureau of Investigation, said the West Jordan Police Department arrested Feuu Fagatele and Brittany Goldsmith after a separate incident Sunday morning, and police learned the pair happened to be among the persons of interest sought in connection with the shooting.

Both were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on charges relating to the second incident in West Jordan Sunday. Police stated they also recovered a green Ford Expedition matching the description of the SUV involved in Saturday’s shooting. Police also located other evidence during the arrest.

Utah Highway Patrol is still working to locate the third person of interest.

Garcia said they don’t believe the shooting was random, but rather a deliberate and targeted attack. Police believe the driver of the semi-trailer, who is from Idaho, knew the two people of interest. Authorities are investigating the possibility that drugs or relationship issues were factors in the motivation for the shooting.

Fagatele was booked on the following charges: Possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, burglary of a vehicle, assault on a peace officer or military service member in uniform, failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, use or possession of drug paraphernalia, and providing false information to police.

Goldsmith was booked on the following charges: Two counts of use or possession of drug paraphernalia and one count each of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, shoplifting, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute.
