Two Utahns killed, 1 injured in Idaho crash

LAVA HOT SPRINGS, Idaho — Two Utahns were killed and a third was injured Sunday in a crash near Lava Hot Springs, Idaho.

According to a news release from Idaho State Police, it happened on US-30 at milepost 370 and state police officers investigated the crash shortly after 3 p.m.

The news release said 34-year-old Nyals Bodine was driving a 2013 Nissan Versa, with 57-year-old Leah Tingey and 61-year-old Jeffrey Tingey as passengers. Police said the Versa was headed west on US-30 when it was struck by an eastbound Toyota Camry that had crossed the center line.

The Camry was driven by 18-year-old Austin Rausch, of Idaho Falls, ID.

According to the news release, Nyals Bodine and Leah Tingey died at the scene. Jeffrey Tingey was taken helicopter to Portneuf Medical Center. Rausch was taken by ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center.

Police said Nyals Bodine, Leah Tingey and Jeffrey Tingey were all wearing their seat belts, but Rausch was not.

The investigation is ongoing.
