NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — A Canadian island has invited Americans to move there if Donald Trump wins the presidency.

“Hi Americans! Donald Trump may become the President of your country! If that happens, and you decide to get the hell out of there, might I suggest moving to Cape Breton Island!” says the Destination Cape Breton association on its web site.

The tourism organization juxtaposes the island’s Canadian health care system and “affordable” housing market against Trump’s right-wing policies.

“Don’t wait until Donald Trump is elected president to find somewhere else to live!” says the site. “Start now, that way, on election day, you just hop on a bus to start your new life in Cape Breton, where women can get abortions, Muslim people can roam freely, and the only ‘walls’ are holding up the roofs of our extremely affordable houses.”

The site also mentions that “health care is free” and “nobody has a handgun!”

Cape Breton acknowledged the infamous cold of Canada’s winters. But at the time of this writing, the island was only 2 degrees colder than New York City, Trump’s primary residence.

So is anybody actually going to take them up on it? Mary Tulle, CEO of Destination Cape Breton, said they only put out the invitation three days ago, but they’ve received 50,000 U.S. inquiries on their web site in that time, which exceeds all of the traffic they got from the U.S. last year.

Cape Breton is experiencing a sharp decline in its population, which Tulle blames on shuttered coal mines and steel mills, as well as the appeal of oil industry jobs in Alberta prior to the decline in oil prices.

The population was 101,619 in 2011, in the most recent statistics available from the Canadian Government. That’s down 4% since 2006, compared to 6% growth nationwide. Forecasts suggest that the island might have already dipped below the psychologically significant level of 100,000.

But it’s hard to deny that the scenery is beautiful in Cape Breton — Tulle said that even Trump would like it there. Since his mother was from Scotland, he might appreciate the island’s Scotch-Irish heritage, she said.

A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign did not immediately return messages from CNNMoney.

Cape Breton is located directly up the East Coast from the U.S., at the eastern end of Nova Scotia.

All the whiners can leave this country if Trump is elected for all I care. I’m surprised they didn’t leave when Obama got re-elected. After all, he’s part of the cause behind our country’s problems right now. And people want to leave because Trump wants to fix this country? Or is it because he will stop the things that’s making them happy vs the rest of the country? Fine…join the rest of the people leaving because they have to pay more taxes because they make millions of dollars every year. I guess they can’t handle having to pay their fair share in taxes every year….like the rest of us. That’s called being selfish.

Sorry not sorry, but if you can’t handle living in this country during its non ideal years, then you don’t deserve to live in it on its best. Democrats put up with Bush and Republicans put up with Obama. People like me, [who find a way to make things work regardless], put up with everybody. If you want to bail on the chance that things won’t work out the way your spoiled entitled ass expects then go now, good riddance. America works because we don’t all get along, we fight, argue, debate and at the end of the day we find a way to make things work. Sometimes living in the US means you won’t get your way, if this doesn’t work for you go ruin someone else’s county with your entitlement.

I consider any American that supports Trump to be a traitor. This is not America! He is a dictator, calls named like a child, threatens, bullies, has no feasible plan to help our economy. It is called the flight or fight syndrome, I am 57…I need flight. Trump is going to bring his low paying jobs here, chastise Mexican but let Asians do his work like slave labor. Fools, the lot of you….a bunch of fools. The working poor wil be mere slaves & equal rights will disappear.

“”Where women can get abortions” – ANY abortion – right up until the last hour before birth. Up here we’re partial to partial birth! In fact parents can kill their living offspring with virtual impunity in the courts. That’s us: compassionate – except to the children. “Sharp decline in population?” And they’re bragging about their abortion mills!!! “Where Muslims can roam freely” – all too freely for the taste of many Canadians: Trudeau is importing Syrian “refugees” by staggering numbers compared to the USA, and evicting the armed forces from their barracks in order to house them. Who needs armies when invasions are the order of the day? “Hop on a bus?” Good idea, since gas prices will be a lot higher than what you now pay, with an exchange rate of almost $1.40 to the US $1.00. And get used to paying more for everything and earning less as the country continues to teeter on perpetual recession thanks to our resource economy: when China stumbles, Canada tumbles. Did I mention taxes? Who do you think is paying for all that “free” health care? It’s sickening! No guns? No second amendment – and no first, either. Say the wrong thing on your blog and the Mounties may come by to confiscate your computer. Sure, we have freedom of speech – the kind with the fine print, i.e., you’re free to say anything you like – asterisk – unless you offend somebody!

I will add this island to my list of considerations. MY country would be the ULTIMATE embarrassment and I’d easily fork over my citizenship. Republicans should be so ashamed…there are good candidates running, but you’re so angry you’re blinded by it.

Wonderful! We won’t lose (real) citizens…we’d gain more peace and quiet without their running mouths, and we’d gain a lot more space, without their wide posteriors hanging around. They can leave immediately, of not sooner, so then won’t have to be ‘subjected’ to the process of what’s projected to be a Trump romp! I wasn’t really a Trump fan until nuts like this one said they would leave. That cinched it for *me*. (And they better follow through or they will be known to not keep their word.) And Canada’s Cape Breton Island is perfect for them…way out in the Atlantic….Not a major city around…in the middle of nowhere…..with hardly any one to bother them….Sort of like ‘solitary’.

Would be worth it to not be around the ignorant in this country that care only for guns, violence, bullying & a lunatic for president of a powerful country. The ideal situation would be for you freaks to leave & let us live in a peaceful country for a change. I am an American also.
