PROVO, Utah -- It started as a dream shared at the dinner table for a Provo family -- now it's a game you can play on your phone.

The new IOS game, "Crayons Go Berserk" is now up and running on the app store.

The idea was born when a father told his five children, ages 4 to 17, about a scary dream he had when he was a child of his crayons coming to life and attacking him.

The game begins with a young child wanting to make art with a computer rather than crayons. The crayons don't take this rejection well and the player has to fight the crayons off.

The kids said they didn't expect the game to take off as it has.

“I really hopes it develops into a game that lots of people play,” said Stuart Maughan, one of the children who helped create the game.

Stuart’s older sister, Kate Maughan, didn’t think beyond the creation of the game.

“I didn’t think we’d make it this far,” she said.

The kids say making this game also taught them life lessons, such as never giving up and having faith in themselves.
