WEST VALLEY CITY — Less than a month after an SUV was stolen with the victim’s parents’ ashes still inside, that vehicle has been recovered along with the remains.

Sheila Bunn told FOX 13 News back in January that her Toyota 4Runner was stolen from the parking lot at a Smith’s where she worked, and she said her parents’ ashes were in the passenger seat because she and her brother were planning to meet after work in order to divide the ashes before they moved to different states.

“He was going to Hawaii and he was taking half, and I was going to Oregon and taking half,” Sheila Bunn said in January. “That was their wishes. And this has been really hard for our family.”

However, when she left work, she found the SUV was gone.

Bunn confirmed to FOX 13 Wednesday that her stolen car was found by Cottonwood Heights police in an apartment complex off Fort Union Boulevard. She said her parents’ ashes were also recovered, but she said police indicated the suspects remain at-large.
