Utah Park Ranger Chris Haramoto shared some basic tips for ice fishing. Before heading to your favorite lake the most important thing to remember is to pack the correct safety equipment. He recommends:
- ropes for appropriate set up
- ice cleats that strap onto the bottom of boots
- celsius ice escape preserver, in case the ice were to crack and you had to climb out
- a buddy, never go alone
