LAYTON, Utah — A man accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl in Layton is behind bars and facing numerous charges.

Police in Layton said 33-year-old Michael Cole Hadley met the alleged victim while helping her family move.

Hadley is accused of sending inappropriate messages and pictures to the teen’s phone in November and then engaging in sexual activity with her.

Police said they encourage parents to know what their kids are doing on social media and on their cell phones.

“Please make sure you’re aware of what your kids are up to, and if you suspect anything or if you’re worried about anything, please don’t hesitate to give us a call,” said Sgt. Clint Bobrowski of the Layton Police Department.

Police booked Hadley into the Davis County Jail Thursday on the following charges: one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.
