Recycle your Christmas tree this year

Christmas time is over and the decorations are down, what do you do next?

Lorna Vogt, the sanitation director for Salt Lake City, gives two simple options for residents to recycle their holiday tree.

The Salt Lake City tree pick up starts Monday, January 11 and runs through Friday, January 22.

A couple tips for recycling your Christmas tree:

1. Make sure your tree is free of lights and decorations
2. Place the tree in your brown curbside compost can
3. Trees must be place at the curb before January 11th
4. All trees will be processed at the Salt Lake Valley Landfill
