FARMINGTON, Penn. – A man who put a Santa Claus dummy in a noose said his reasons were misunderstood.
The Santa dummy has blacked out eyes and an apparent broken neck and is getting a lot of attention.
“It’s just sick I think, because Christmas is supposed to be about the lord and we’re supposed to be about enjoying and happiness and peace and love,” neighbor Ellen Huseman said. “Awful thing to show to children too, I believe.”
The man responsible for the display didn’t go on camera but said he’s not protesting Jolly Old St. Nick; he’s protesting holiday greed and overspending.
He said, Christmas is about Jesus Christ first.
However, others who have seen this display support it.
“I thought it was great,” resident Barbara Carpenter said. “I think people ought to quit blowing smoke up their kids’ a****. They need to be taught the truth young on; life sucks, deal with it. Yepper.”
While the display may look like the homeowner is anti-Santa or anti-Christmas, he said he is not.
He said he is making a statement against the commercialization of the holiday.
“I agree with him that it is about Christ’s birth,” Huseman said. “And it is blown out of proportion with all this spending and buying of things, but no, that’s not the way to do it. Put out a manger scene.”
After all the attention, the homeowner has removed the hanging man in red from his porch and said he didn’t mean to upset anyone.
