KANSAS CITY, Missouri — The Brigham Young University Cougars fell 20-16 to the Missouri Tigers on the road Saturday night.

After some uncertainty about whether or not the game would happen following Missouri players boycotting football activities in response to race-related tensions at their school, the two teams met Saturday night at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

The scoring in the first half was limited to field goals, and the Tigers entered half time with a 6-3 lead over the Cougars.

BYU scored the first touchdown of the game in the third quarter on an 11-yard rush from Algernon Brown, giving BYU a 10-6 lead, which would be their only lead of the game.

Missouri finally found the end zone in the fourth quarter, scoring twice. The first came on a 4-yard pass from Drew Lock to J’Mon Moore, and the second was the result of a short run from Tyler Hunt.

BYU managed to close the gap to 20-16 late in the fourth after scoring on a 6-yard pass from Tanner Mangum to Francis Bernard, but those six points would be the last points earned, as the PAT was a miss and the Tigers were able to hold on for the win.

The Cougars, now 7-3, play next on November 21, when they will host the Fresno State Bulldogs. That game is scheduled for 1 p.m. MT.
