Utah Senator accepts job with UCAT, will resign from legislature in January

LEHI, Utah — Utah State Senator Aaron Osmond will be resigning his position in the Senate on January 4, 2016 in order to take a position as president of the Utah College of Applied Technology.

According to a press release from UCAT, Osmond, who represents District 10 in the Senate, was selected from among four finalists.

The release states he will begin work with UCAT on January 4 of next year, and he will resign from the Senate on that same date.

“It is an honor to be selected by the UCAT Board of Trustees for this role,” Osmond stated in the press release. “I have dedicated over 20 years of my profession to the career and technical education industry on the private sector side. I now look forward to giving my full attention and energy to working with our talented campus presidents in meeting the growing technical training needs of students and businesses via our public state-of-the-art applied technology schools across the state!”

According to the press release: “The Utah College of Applied Technology (UCAT) is the parent organization for Utah’s eight regional applied technology colleges (ATCs). Established by the State of Utah, UCAT provides market-driven technical education through eight ATCs meeting the needs of Utah’s employers for skilled workers.”
