SALT LAKE CITY — A federal appeals court has announced it will hear arguments over Utah’s ban on polygamy.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday scheduled arguments in the “Sister Wives” case for Jan. 21, 2016 in Denver. Reality TV polygamist Kody Brown and his four wives are suing the state of Utah over its ban on polygamy, arguing it violates their constitutional rights.

A federal judge in Utah struck down a portion of the state’s ban on plural marriage in 2013. The state of Utah appealed to the higher court.
