SALT LAKE CITY — A 2-year-old girl was taken to Primary Children’s Hospital in critical condition Friday night after a 3-vehicle crash that occurred in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City Police Department personnel said the crash occurred around 7 p.m. as a woman was traveling west on 2100 South and went to make a left turn onto 900 West and rear-ended a van.

Witnesses tell police the vehicle was driving erratically prior to the crash, and the impact sent the van into oncoming traffic. The woman’s car clipped another vehicle before coming to a stop.

Witnesses pulled the 2-year-old girl from the vehicle that initially caused the crash, and paramedics said the child was having breathing problems. Authorities believe the child’s mother may have suffered some kind of medical emergency prior to the crash.

There were no other injuries reported.
