SALT LAKE CITY -- Grow a giant pumpkin, cut it open, toss it into a pond, and race!

That is the general idea behind The Annual Ginormous Pumpkin Regatta held by the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers each year at Sugar House Pond.

After giant pumpkin growers compete to see who can grow the biggest pumpkin they put the 700 to 1500 pound vegetables to good use.

This year for the 5th time 'Adults' will dress up in costumes, carve and race pumpkins with names like "Leaky Bottom" and "South County Prom Queen".

Competitors say its a science, but you can judge for yourself.
