Former manager who pleaded guilty to sex with teen employee sentenced to jail time

KANAB, Utah – A woman who pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual conduct with a teenager who was an employee of the fast food restaurant she formerly managed was sentenced to prison time, but that sentence was suspended in favor of time in jail, home confinement and probation.

Shalene Lathim, 47, pleaded guilty in August to unlawful sexual conduct with a 16 or 17 year old, amended to a third-degree felony from a first-degree felony, and one count of dealing in harmful materials to a minor. The woman was sentenced to a term in prison not to exceed five years on both counts, but the prison time was suspended and Lathim ordered to serve 90 days in jail and 60 days in home confinement followed by 36 months of probation.

The teenage male victim was an employee at a Wendy’s fast food restaurant where Lathim formerly worked as a manager. The woman allegedly engaged in sexual activity with the teen and had exchanged explicit photos and videos with him.
