SALT LAKE CITY – October 11 is National Coming Out Day, and the Utah Pride Center is celebrating with a New Dawn, New Day event.

The center is launching a new community focus and is joining forces with dozens of groups, including those involved in government, corporate, educational, non-profit and religious functions.

Their goal is to provide better resources for the LGBTQiA community.

"We've repainted, we've moved things around, so that the community can come in and use our library, use our community kitchen,” said Marian Edmonds-Allen, executive director at the Utah Pride Center. “We have a resource room for youth that are experiencing homelessness, we have clothes and food. We have a very large public area, where we'll have educational and social events."

The groups did a statewide community needs assessment, and, with results from hundreds of youth surveys, they have a wealth of data on how to better serve the community. For more information about the Utah Pride Center, click here.
