GARFIELD COUNTY, Utah — Search and rescue personnel were looking for an 89-year-old man who went hunting in Antimony Canyon in Garfield County Thursday morning and who had not been seen since, but later Friday night authorities said the man was found and is alive.

According to a press release from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, 89-year-old George Jolley of Antimony left to go elk hunting around 9 a.m. Thursday in Antimony Canyon and had not been seen since. The press release states: “He does have issues with dementia.”

An email from Garfield County authorities sent at about 8:36 p.m. Friday stated Jolley had been found alive, but details about how he was found and his condition were not clear. More details were expected to be released Saturday, according to the email.

Search and rescue crews from Garfield and Wayne counties were searching the area around Antimony and Escalante, and a state helicopter was also assisting in the search.
