LDS church members flock to services for Elder Richard G. Scott

SALT LAKE CITY – Funeral services for Elder Richard G. Scott started at 11 a.m. MT in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.

The funeral is open to members of the public ages eight and older.

Overflow seating is available in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square.

The Church campus buildings will be closed at 10:30 a.m. and will reopen following the funeral at 1 p.m.

A private burial service will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City following the funeral.

The LDS church said Elder Scott was sustained as an apostle on Oct. 1, 1988.

He was called as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 2, 1977, and served as a member of the presidency of that quorum from Oct. 1983 until he was called as an apostle in 1988.

He died of causes incident to age, while surrounded by his family at his home in Salt Lake City. He was 86.
