ZION NATIONAL PARK — For the next few days part of the trail leading to Angels Landing in Zion National Park will be closed, officials announced Monday.

Trail crews will be working on two of the bridges along West Rim Trail until Oct. 15.

Due to the locations of the bridges and the work needing to be done, portions of the West Rim Trail, including the section needed to reach Angels Landing, will be closed intermittently, according to park officials.

Closures will affect day hikers and those wishing to obtain wilderness permits for canyoneering and overnight camping.

Starting Monday to Oct. 1, work will be begin between Scout’s Lookout and campsite 1 on the West Rim Trail. Park officials say hikers should expect up to two-hour delays.

The work will not affect people hiking to Angels Landing from the Grotto Shuttle Stop.

On Oct. 5 and Oct. 12-15, work will take place on the bridge located halfway between the Grotto Trailhead and Scout’s Lookout.

The trail will be completely closed during those two weeks from Oct. 4 at 11 p.m. to Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
