SALT LAKE CITY - It’s a convention of characters. Anne Nichols of Murray has been to all three comic-cons in Salt Lake City.

“I refer to this as first Halloween. I love coming here just to see the costumes people put together,” says Nichols.

Some are dressed in costumes you’d recognize, while others let their imaginations run wild. Katie Ainsworth of Salt Lake Cit is kicking off the holiday season a little early with her original character that she calls Sugarcane the Steampunk Christmas Elf.

“Anything I build or create is original and out of my head,” says Ainsworth.

No matter who they’re pretending to be, it’s the real genuine reactions that make it all worth it. Allan Forte, traveled to Salt Lake City’s Comic-Con from California.

“When I dress up as a character I see a lot of people enjoy what I've made and the interaction although momentary is great,” says Forte.

Most agree, there’s nothing like the reaction from Comic-Con’s youngest attendees.

“It’s especially fun when little kids come up and ask if they can take a picture with you. It’s just awesome,” says Nichols.

It’s a place where you can be whoever you want to be.

“Its this really fun opportunity for people to share their totally geeky interests with each other and it’s fun to get pictures with people and talk to people who have the same interests you do,” says Nichols.

It’s an event that celebrates the world of make-believe.

With hundreds of panels, vendors, and celebrity appearances, the three day event features something for every kind of pop culture fan.
