WEST JORDAN, Utah — Police in West Jordan are investigating Sunday after several young adults skateboarding at a public library smelled something unpleasant and then found the body of a man who appears to have been dead for some time.

Lt. Richard Bell, West Jordan Police Department, said young adults were skateboarding Sunday evening at the West Jordan Library property, 8030 South 1825 West, when they made the discovery. It is not clear exactly what time the body was found.

Authorities are investigating the incident as a suspicious death, Bell said. The deceased has so far only been identified as an adult male.

Bell said it appears the man has been dead for a while and the body has already begun decomposing. It was not clear how the man died or how long ago he died.

Police initially stated it was a group of kids who found the body, but later Sunday they said those who reported the body are young adults but did not give a specific age range.
