SALT LAKE CITY — Embattled state lawmaker Justin Miller joined his fellow Democrats at their caucus meeting, lunching with colleagues who have repeatedly asked him to step down from office.

Speaking to FOX 13 briefly before the House Minority Caucus meeting on Wednesday, Rep. Miller, D-Salt Lake City, reiterated that he has no intention of resigning his seat over the Millcreek area.

“In light of current developments, I feel more strongly about that than ever,” he said.

Rep. Miller was referring to the FBI’s involvement into both the theft investigation against him and his allegations of corruption in the Salt Lake County Mayor’s Office over government contracts. Miller’s former boss, Mayor Ben McAdams, has accused him of stealing thousands of dollars from campaign accounts. The Davis County Attorney has said he is looking at all the accusations. The Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office has said it found Rep. Miller’s accusations to be without merit.

Miller told FOX 13 on Wednesday he is cooperating with investigators.

House Democratic leaders have asked Miller to step down in light of the theft accusations. He skipped last month’s caucus meeting, but appeared Wednesday. Democratic leaders did not speak to him about the accusations, nor their call for his resignation.
