SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah residents across the state enjoyed Fourth of July festivities throughout the day Saturday, as early morning parades and fireworks shows were scheduled throughout the Salt Lake Valley.

Sugar House Park hosted its annual festival Saturday morning, which will be followed by the annual fireworks show at 9:45 p.m. Families were out enjoying the South Salt Lake parade as well as the America Strong Festival in Sandy.

“The weather’s wonderful. They’ve got a lot going on, so, we’re having a good time,” said Sandy resident Katie Ricks.

Sandy City Recreation Coordinator Josh Allred spoke about some of the attractions at the America Strong Festival in Sandy.

“There’s food carts everywhere for everybody to enjoy, there’s also bounce houses,” he said. “And we’re going to have some concerts later on and the parade later on in the day, as well.”

Allred says the event draws thousands of people each year.

“I think they estimate about 40,000 people come through this event for the city, and it’s just a great way for community outreach and build that community spirit,” he said.

Those who were in attendance said there’s a lot to enjoy.

“We always like these booths where the kids go in and get little trinkets and lots of good food and we got to see the art,” said Sandy resident Jan Jenkins.
