Man flown to hospital after being thrown from a horse at rodeo grounds

CEDAR FORT, Utah — A 19-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital Sunday after he was thrown from a horse while at the area’s rodeo grounds and rendered briefly unconscious.

According to a press release from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, emergency responders were dispatched just before 3:30 p.m. to the rodeo grounds in Cedar Fort, which is in Utah County near Eagle Mountain.

A 19-year-old man was thrown from a horse and was unconscious for several minutes. The man initially had trouble breathing but responders stabilized the man and by the time he was transported from the area he was conscious and talking. The man was taken by LifeFlight to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.

The release states the man is in serious condition but that his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. Utah County officials tweeted a short video of the medical helicopter taking off, see below for that footage.
