TAYLORSVILLE, Utah – A man is in serious condition after he was hit by a truck while trying to help another drive on Bangerter Highway.

Troopers said a man in his early twenties was hooking up a person’s stalled car to his when a truck hit the back of it and smashed the man between two cars.

Officials said the two cars were barely out of the traveling lanes and by the time the truck driver saw them, it was too late.

The driver of that F-150 was following another car that happened to swerve out of the way of this disabled vehicle,” Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said. “At the last minute he wasn’t able to negotiate it. The roadway here is very dark. It’s not really well-lit and there’s really no shoulder for the disabled vehicle to go into.”

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious head injuries.

Troopers said they don’t believe alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident.

So far, no charges have been filed.
