QUINCY, Mass. — A father in Massachusetts made a frantic 911 call after he reportedly realized he had left his baby in his SUV before boarding a train as part of his daily commute.

According to WCVB, the man called police Wednesday around 8:20 a.m. while he was on the train.

“I left my 1-year-old baby in my SUV by accident this morning,” the father can be heard saying on the 911 call obtained by WCVB. “I am on my way back to the station now.”

The father had reportedly gone from a station in North Quincy to a station in Boston. Quincy officials responded to the parking lot, where the found the baby safe in the car. The child was in the car for an estimated 35 minutes.

The man told WCVB he has a “very repetitive morning procedure” involving two drop-offs at day care and a train ride, and he said he dropped his older child off at school but forgot to take his baby to an in-home day care center.

“The baby had fallen asleep in the child seat, and I went into autopilot,” He told WCVB. “I had what I thought was a safeguard procedure against this in place that I neglected to use today. Obviously, we will be doing more to prevent this going forward.”

The father said it was one of the worst days of his life, and he thanked those who helped respond to keep his child safe.
