DAVIS COUNTY, Utah – An Ogden man was arrested and faces multiple charges that include reckless endangerment and DUI after he allegedly fled from police while two young girls were riding in the back seat and not wearing seat belts.
Things began when a Utah Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to stop a southbound vehicle on I-15 near Layton Parkway on a possible DUI at about 12:08 a.m. Sunday.
The driver initially stopped but then took off again before the trooper could issue a citation. There were two girls, ages 4 and 5, in the back seat who were not wearing seat belts.
The trooper initially gave chase when the suspect fled, but they terminated the pursuit due to safety concerns.
The man then allegedly dropped the two girls off at a residence and left the area on foot. It is not clear what the relationship between the suspect and the two minors is.
Police received a tip about the man’s location, and when they arrived in the area of 22 Talbot Drive in Layton around 2:01 a.m., they spotted the man running into a home.
The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Antonio Delgado of Ogden, came out willingly and surrendered to police after officers surrounded the home. He was arrested and booked into the Davis County Jail.
According to Davis County Jail, Delgado was booked Sunday on charges of reckless endangerment, speeding, failure to stop or respond at command of police, failure to wear a seat belt, DUI at age 21 or older with a passenger under 18, and driving on a suspended or revoked license.
