South Jordan couple finds burglars in home, 3 suspects in custody

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah - Police have three suspects in custody accused of kicking down the door and burglarizing a Daybreak home.

Officers said they arrested two women and a man they later found hiding in a window well of neighbor's house.

South Jordan police have arrested:
- 23-year-old Ruby Jo Hernandez of West Valley City
- 26-year-old Catarino Gambino of West Jordan
- 19-year-old Brency Brigetee Salazar of Taylorsville

Authorities said a 63-year-old man and his wife were home, heard the commotion and called 911.

When police got to the house near 5100 W. 10300 S. around 4 a.m., they said they saw a red Chevrolet car with a woman inside.

Officers said they spoke to the woman and took her into custody.

K9 units were called in and found another woman believed to be involved in the burglary behind the house.

The dogs also found a man hiding in a nearby home's window well and he was detained as well.

Police found the stolen items and have returned them to the family.

Authorities said they are working to determine if these suspects could be involved in another similar robbery in the area a few days ago.

The suspects are facing charges for the alleged burglary as well as possession of meth and marijuana.

"We would like to remind all residents to ensure your front doors are locked and to leave your lights on at night; light is the enemy of a burglar," South Jordan Master Officer Samuel Winkler said. "We also encourage residents to call the police anytime they hear or see anything or anyone out of the ordinary so we can come check it out.”
